But while she was going through chemotherapy treatments, she experienced the common side effect of Dysgeusia (alteration of taste). For my mom, things lost their taste completely and she had issues with things feeling slimy in her mouth.
One day, we realized she could actually taste my Dad’s Oatmeal Raisin cookies (one of Mom’s favorites)! A little research told us that it was the zinc in the oats we used that helped Mom taste things again. She says, “the texture of the oatmeal also made a world of difference.”
So, in honor of my Mom, my best friend’s mom – and all the other wonderful men and women in my life who won or lost their own cancer battles – Noshy will be donating a portion of profits from the sale of our Oatmeal Raisin and Oatmeal Raisin Cream cookies to a cancer charity. We’ll make a donation at the end of the month after we do a little research to determine the best place to donate for research or patient care.
